I recently acquired Scott Robertson's somewhat vaguely titled book "How to Draw" which in reality is a book on perspective, something I've always considered Scott to be an authority on. So far it's been a great read. It's very well written, and so far the structure does a great job with easing you into things by starting at the very very most basic stuff. It always has many pages which can be scanned with a smart device and will link to videos explaining the pages contents in even greater detail or demonstrating principles and techniques.
I wholly recommend it. Well worth the price.
